ISO Support Proves To Be A Real Life-Saver For National Charity

Expert ISO consultancy provider, Compliant, are celebrating as they support a national charity to gain prestigious environmental standard, ISO 14001.

The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) approached the Sunderland based business to help them achieve the nationally recognised certification as they looked to achieve their aim of becoming a more environmentally responsible business.

With a purpose to enhance communities to ensure everyone can enjoy being in, on and around water safely, the RLSS’ work is vital in every city, town, community and home.  The charity started to work with Compliant in 2020 as they looked to achieve UKAS accredited ISO 14001 certification, a standard which focuses on creating an effective environmental management system, regardless of their activity or sector.

Compliant, who have experienced a huge demand in their services during the last three years, were delighted to work with such a nationally recognised charity and have enjoyed working with the team from RLSS.

Mark Henderson, Compliant director, commented, “We are keen to work with the third sector as they look to achieve their ISO goals and helping RLSS to become ISO 14001 certified was a huge privilege, the work they carry out within the community is fantastic and it’s brilliant to see so many businesses taking their environmental impact seriously.

There is a misconception that ISO standards are only really suitable for engineering and manufacturing companies, however, that couldn’t be further from the truth.  We support a variety of sectors such as recruitment, IT, hospitality and professional services, with an increase in demand for ISO certifications from Government bodies, the NHS and tier one suppliers, there has never been a better time to invest in the standards.

With our flexible monthly payment plans and personal, tailored support from our qualified and  experienced team, we hope that many more businesses, including the third sector, will work with us on achieving their business goals.”

RLSS UK’s chief executive, Robert Gofton, was delighted when the charity gained the standard, commenting, “Having launched a new strategy in 2020 with a key goal of becoming more environmentally responsible, this led us to research the ISO 14001 standard.  As a charity, we’re committed to being carbon neutral, looking at ISO 14001 enabled us to explore what we already had in place and where we could improve.

We now have an environmental and sustainability team with seven members and are exploring a range of initiatives that we can implement to operate more energy efficiently across our organisation.

Mark was very reassuring throughout the process and his expertise and support on the run up to and during our audits was invaluable.”
