CASE STUDY: OMAC Fire
OMAC Fire achieves ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 with Compliant
Why OMAC Fire decided to invest in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Fire suppression and detection systems designers and installers, OMAC Fire decided to invest in a quality and environmental management system to better support their client base consisting of Data Centres, Commercial and Industrial buildings.
The UK based business operates nationally and across Europe.
We met with OMAC Fire’s Technical Director Steve Franklin to discuss why the business decided to invest in these ISO certifications. Steve described that “a Spanish client that we work with requested that we implement a quality management system. ISO certification is hugely important in Spain and across other European countries and we knew investing in our own certification would open many doors for us.
We also wanted to start afresh with our systems as we had so many different processes and procedures in place. Initially we decided to invest in quality management system, but this was soon upgraded to an integrated management system incorporating ISO 14001.”
The Process
“We started our ISO journey in early 2022, liaising with the British Assessment Bureau to find a suitable ISO certification consultant. Compliant was recommended by the British Assessment Bureau and after meeting with Mark we decided to progress.
Going through the ISO certification process has been challenging for us as we have had to pull many different processes together into one cohesive strategy. This has been a great experience as it has helped us to create a corporate identity and streamline our approach.
We now have a roll out strategy in place to properly embed the management systems across the business.”
The Outcome
When asked about the experience with Compliant Steve explained that “Compliant and Mark have been great; he made everything understandable. Working with Leon was also good experience; he provided training on understanding how the clauses translated to the documents we were working on.
Our audit was a huge success with only 1 Opportunity for Improvement, which puts us in a strong position for the year ahead.”
Compliant Director Mark Henderson commented “Steve and the team were fantastic from start to finish. As Steve mentioned we helped the business get to grips with the system by providing training. This training explained how the management system we were creating together adhered to the certification’s clauses and how the business could properly embed the system going forward. We are thrilled for OMAC Fire achieving their certification and look forward to working together closely going forward.”
