MAC Traffic Solutions successfully undergo their ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & NHSS 2^nd year surveillance audit with support from Compliant.

Introduction

With a team of highly qualified and skilled professionals, the company’s directors have been involved within the traffic management sector for over 30 years.

Based in Oxford, the company work with clients from initial site surveys to full project delivery of traffic management and highway works across the UK.

Why did MAC Traffic initially decide to invest in ISO & NHSS standards?

With the company originally gaining UKAS accredited ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 in 2021 along with the National Highways Sector Scheme certification, we chatted with Managing Director, Paul McCarthy, to find out more on their initial decision.

“As a relatively new business within the industry, we decided to gain the three ISO standards (quality, environmental and health & safety) to show our commitment to clients and demonstrate our credibility within the industry.

The processes and documentation we created for the standards were a blueprint for how we wanted the business to progress and grow.  It’s also certainly been a big factor in us gaining new clients and being able to tender for larger contracts.

We found that many Tier 1 companies simply wouldn’t engage with suppliers who didn’t have the standards therefore it was essential for us to gain these, it also demonstrated that we were a serious business within the industry.’

The Process

Since originally gaining the certifications, the business continues to grow and has found the standards have helped not only in their daily procedures and processes but also when completing pre-qualification questionnaires.

Paul continued, ‘Working with the Compliant team, they ensured that we had everything in place and have continued to support us throughout the process.  We tender for multiple opportunities across Oxfordshire and further afield with many of the larger contractors requiring us to complete long PQQ’s, having the standards and with the assistance of Compliant, means we can call on them to help complete documentation and eliminate many questions due to having the ISO standards.

In the lead up to our surveillance audits, we are contacted by Danielle, who gives advice and raises any paperwork we need, she is also available during the audits and liaises with the external certification body.  This takes the strain of myself and our workforce meaning we can get on with running the business.’

The Outcome

Following the successful 2^nd year surveillance audit, the company were delighted with the outcome.
