Why Zaltek decided to invest in ISO 9001 and ISO 27001

Zaltek successfully achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 with Compliant. North East based business, Zaltek discover, develop and deliver software solutions for fast-growing enterprises.

Their portfolio involves work for public and private sector organisations, building Management portals and SaaS platforms.

We caught up with Zaltek’s Co-Founder & Business Support Manager, Ann-Marie and Managing Director Mark to discover why they decided to invest in ISO certification. Mark explained “We had been reviewing certification options for the last year and found that ISO kept coming up on applications and questionnaires. Having ISO certification in place puts us in a great position, as we work with many government organisations. ISO 9001 is a fantastic asset for the business and the management system provided by Compliant offers proven quality templates to streamline business operations.”

The Process

Mark described how the business began their ISO journey “We started by implementing Cyber Essentials and after discussing how we could move to the next step with information security began exploring ISO 27001.” Ann Marie added “We needed to streamline procedures to support business growth. Initial investigations showed that prices for implementing popular certifications such as ISO were very expensive. We were fortunate to have been granted funding from NBSL who were also able to recommend Compliant as an ISO certification consultant.”

Compliant work with companies such as Zaltek to facilitate management systems that are audit proof and offer support on audit days and post certification. Mark and the team were on hand to collate documents and develop a bespoke, integrated management system for Zaltek.

The Outcome

Ann Marie went on to highlight that “Mark put us at ease and made the process very easy. We had regular contact with Mark and pre audit meetings that helped us prepare for the stage 1 and stage 2 audits. The Statement of Applicability preparation sheet was a great tool for us and helped us to build a structure that was audit ready. Mark was great and the entire process was stress free.”
