Why the Institute of Export & International Trade decided to invest in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001 

Professional membership body, the Institute of Export & International Trade decided to invest in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001 as time had lapsed since their initial ISO 9001 certification and they had developed information security policies but did not have certification in place to back these up.  

The business envisages this certification helping to: 

1. Support bid responses 
2. Support business growth 
3. Mature processes 
4. Enhance offering to existing customers and members as their data is held under stricter processes. 

Project Director, Andrew Berry explained that “Information security certification is becoming more important and people have been asking us for it. We already had information security policies in place but didn’t have the certification required.” 

The Process 

Andrew explained how they approached the British Assessment Bureau for advice on consultancy support and they recommended 3 companies. He adds “Mark was the most forthcoming. He was the only supplier that we felt could support our process.  

We all think that Mark was excellent. We came into this without understanding what needed to be done. Mark explained the process and built a robust management system within tight timescales. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mark.” 

The Outcome 

The professional membership body based at offices in Peterborough and London offers business support, training and qualifications is now UKAS certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.
