Edinburgh Laser Optics achieves continued ISO 9001 certification with Compliant.

Why did Edinburgh Laser Optics decide to invest in ISO?

Edinburgh Laser Optics provides consultancy services in the design, manufacture and alignment of optical components and assemblies. With the business being in operation for eleven years, following a demand by their customer base in 2020, managing director, Roger Hill, decided to invest in UKAS accredited ISO 9001 certification.

Roger commented, “We saw an increase in our customers requesting the business to be ISO 9001 certified therefore we knew that commercially it was a must-have for our business.  We also identified that most local authorities also required the certification therefore following a recommendation we decided to proceed with the project with Compliant”.

The Process

The Compliant team worked closely with Roger during the company’s initial ISO certification and as a result, the business maintained our services to ensure continued smooth management of the ISO system.

Carrying out regular audits and updates of the management system enabled the yearly surveillance audit to run smoothly with Edinburgh Laser Optics being well prepared by Compliant’s Internal Audit Manager, Danielle Barry.

We asked Roger if the process had met his expectations, “The process wasn’t what I expected to be honest but I mean that in a good way!  It was certainly a lot easier than we initially thought, Compliant made sure that everything was well organized and Danielle prepared everything for us.  When we had the surveillance audit everything went smoothly.”

The Outcome

Following the yearly surveillance one-day audit, Edinburgh Laser Optics successfully retained their ISO 9001 certification, maintaining their UKAS accredited status.

Roger was delighted with the ongoing support and successful recertification, commenting, “We have been so impressed by Compliant’s professionalism, the team were dedicated from the very start of the project.  We can see the amount of effort that is put in by the team to ensure all the necessary paperwork is completed and it is much appreciated.”
