BAWSO achieves continued ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 certification with Compliant.

Why did Bawso initially decide to invest in ISO?

Originally gaining the three ISO standards in 2021, Bawso decided to retain the services of Compliant to help maintain the standards and be present at future surveillance and recertification audits.

Bawso support individuals from black and ethnic minority backgrounds who are affected by domestic abuse and other forms of abuse, they run 25 projects in Wales which support over 6,000 people every year.

Keen to ensure a quality service for the clients and to adhere to regulatory requirements, the organisation invested in the three ISO standards of quality, environmental and information security.

Head of Quality Assurance and Compliance, Helida Ramogi, managed the ISO process within Bawso, commenting on the process, she said, ‘We were keen to ensure our process were correct, we had various accreditations but thought that the most internationally and respected certification would be ISO. As part of our growth strategy, this seemed the next step for us so we decided to go for it.

We needed a consultant with the technical expertise who understood the process and that could not only implement a credible management system but as an organisation could support us through the process.

Initially reviewing various ISO consultants, we felt the technical support, financial commitment and service provided by Compliant was right for us.’

The Process

The Compliant team worked alongside Helida to ensure all documentation was in place and up to date in time for the yearly surveillance audit. Liaising with the external auditor, convenient dates were organised and Compliant ensured all paperwork was uploaded to the Sharepoint system prior to the audit.

On the surveillance process, Helida commented, ‘Managing the ISO standards has been a good learning experience, we work on the premise that there is always room for improvement and with the technical experience of Compliant they have supported us brilliantly. Every time I sent an email or query to the team, they responded straight away which made the process easy and hassle-free.’

The Outcome

Following the surveillance audit, Bawso were delighted with the outcome and their continued certification to ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001.
